Qin Haixiang met with Loh Khum Yean, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment of Singapore, in Beijing

Recently, Qin Haixiang, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, met with Loh Khum Yean, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment of Singapore, in Beijing. The two sides had an in-depth exchange on the policy practices and cooperation intentions of sponge city construction and green buildings.

Qin Haixiang said that China and Singapore are close neighbors and important partners. The Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City and the training programs for Chinese mayors in Singapore have achieved fruitful results. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore. The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development is willing to work with Singapore to implement the important cooperation consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and continue to promote exchanges and cooperation under the framework of the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Municipal Environmental Governance and Sustainable Development of Water Resources" between the two ministries to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Loh Khum Yean said that the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment of Singapore fully supports the development of the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City in water resources management, sponge city construction, and waste treatment, and is willing to conduct in-depth exchanges with China on specific policy practices in related fields.

The two sides reached a consensus on continuously promoting the green development of the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, strengthening mutual learning in the fields of sponge city construction and green buildings, and jointly addressing climate change.

Relevant officials from the departments of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development attended the meeting.
